Isopods for Sale
Every isopod breeder in the directory, plus the cultures they have up right now.
Isopods are the backbone of the invertebrate hobby. They started as the cleanup crew in bioactive terrariums and turned into a hobby of their own, with hundreds of species and color morphs now bred in the US. Whether you want a hardy Porcellio scaber culture to seed a dart-frog tank, a show-piece Cubaris like the Rubber Ducky, or a fast Porcellionides pruinosus Powder Blue colony that explodes in a few months, the breeders here have it.
Each seller card shows which genera the breeder keeps, where they ship from, and whether they have live auctions or a stocked shop. Open a profile to read their shipping policy and live arrival guarantee, then buy directly: bid in an auction, add a culture to your cart, or message them on their own channels. Isopods are sold as starter cultures (usually 6–15 mixed-age animals), and a healthy culture will give you juveniles within one to three months.
Live invertebrates on this site ship overnight or two-day with heat or cold packs as the weather demands, and most sellers hold shipments for extreme temperatures. Start with the species pages below to compare prices and sellers for one species, or browse the full list of breeders.

Isopods FAQ
What are the best isopods for beginners?
Porcellio scaber morphs (Dalmatian, Orange, Lava), Porcellionides pruinosus (Powder Blue, Powder Orange) and Armadillidium vulgare (Magic Potion) are forgiving, fast-breeding and cheap. Cubaris species like the Rubber Ducky are slower and pricier, so most keepers start elsewhere.
How many isopods should I buy to start a colony?
A culture of 10–15 mixed-age animals is the usual starting point. Fewer will work for fast species like Porcellionides pruinosus; slow Cubaris species benefit from a larger starting group.
How are isopods shipped?
In a ventilated deli cup with damp substrate and leaf litter, inside an insulated box, via overnight or two-day service. Sellers add heat packs or cold packs depending on the forecast and often ask to hold shipments during extreme weather.
Are isopods legal to keep and ship in the US?
Yes — isopods are widely kept and shipped between US states. Sellers on this site are US-based and ship domestically only.
