Springtails for Sale
Live Collembola cultures from the sellers in the directory.
Springtails are the smallest members of a bioactive cleanup crew and arguably the most important. These tiny hexapods graze on mold, fungus and decaying matter around the clock, keeping dart-frog vivariums, isopod bins and reptile enclosures clean without any effort from you. A single thriving culture seeds an entire tank.
Most US sellers offer the tropical white springtail (Collembola sp., often sold as “tropical whites”), which tolerates the warm, humid conditions of most terrariums. Pink, silver, black and temperate strains fill other niches: temperate springtails handle cooler, drier setups, while the larger silver and orange species are easier to see and feed off to small predators like dart frogs and mantis nymphs.
Cultures are sold in deli cups on charcoal, clay or substrate and are ready to seed on arrival. Springtails ship well in most weather, but the sellers here still use insulated boxes and fast services. Browse the sellers below, or pair your springtails with an isopod culture from the same shop to save on shipping.

Springtails FAQ
Which springtails are best for a bioactive terrarium?
Tropical white springtails are the default for warm, humid vivariums. Temperate springtails suit cooler or drier enclosures. Larger silver or orange species are easier to see and feed to small predators.
How do I culture springtails?
Keep them in a sealed deli cup or tub on charcoal or clay with a little water, feed a pinch of yeast or rice every few days, and tap a portion into your enclosure when the culture booms.
Can springtails and isopods live together?
Yes — they are the classic cleanup-crew pairing. Springtails handle mold and the finest debris; isopods break down larger waste.
