Millipedes for Sale
Captive-bred millipedes and the US keepers who raise them.
Millipedes are the gentle giants of the hobby: slow, harmless detritivores that spend their days turning leaf litter and rotting wood into soil. They are easy to keep in a deep, moist substrate with plenty of hardwood leaves, and many species live for several years and breed readily in captivity.
Because importing exotic millipedes is tightly regulated in the US, the species offered by domestic breeders are mostly native or long-established in the hobby: the American giant millipede (Narceus americanus), the ivory millipede (Chicobolus spinigerus), bumblebee millipedes (Anadenobolus monilicornis), Orthoporus desert species and the colorful flat-backed Apheloria. Buying captive-bred from the sellers here supports the keepers doing that breeding work.
Millipedes ship well in cool weather in damp substrate, but they are sensitive to heat and to dry conditions, so sellers use insulated boxes and overnight or two-day service. Compare breeders below, check their shipping policy, and look for sellers who list size and captive-bred status on every listing.

Millipedes FAQ
What do pet millipedes eat?
Decaying hardwood leaves and rotting white wood make up most of the diet, supplemented with vegetables, fruit and a calcium source such as cuttlebone.
Which millipede is best for beginners?
Narceus americanus and ivory millipedes (Chicobolus spinigerus) are hardy, widely bred in the US, and handle a range of conditions.
Can I buy African giant millipedes in the US?
Exotic millipede imports are restricted, so true African giants are rarely available. US breeders focus on native and permitted species.
