Beetles for Sale
Rhinoceros, stag and flower beetles from US beetle breeders.
Beetle keeping is one of the fastest-growing corners of the hobby. Rhinoceros beetles like the eastern Hercules (Dynastes tityus) and Grant's rhinoceros beetle (Dynastes grantii), stag beetles in Dorcus and Lucanus, and the jewel-toned flower beetles are all bred in the US, and the breeders listed here sell larvae, pupae and fresh adults.
Most beetles are bought as larvae (grubs) because that is where the keeping happens: you raise them in flake soil or rotten wood for months to a year or more, then enjoy the adult for a season. Buying a pair of larvae is the way into breeding your own. Adults are sold when they emerge, often as pairs, and listings should state the emergence date and size.
Many exotic beetle species require USDA permits, so the sellers on this site list species they are permitted to sell within the US. Larvae ship well in their own substrate; adults ship overnight in padded containers. Browse the breeders below and check each profile for the species and life stages they currently have.

Welcome to Riverside Invertebrates. Pull on up to the sandbar, kick off your shoes, and come look at some cool bugs. We started collecting isopods and millipedes as a hobby. We soon realized though we were getting overrun (not a bad thing). Now we want to share our bugs with you! Right now our stock will be limited to isopods and millipedes but we hope to soon expand out to springtails and arachnids. Thank you for stopping by the sandbar and visiting Riverside Invertebrates!

Beetles FAQ
Should I buy beetle larvae or adults?
Larvae are cheaper and let you raise and eventually breed the species, but take months to over a year to mature. Adults give you the display animal now but live only a few months.
What is flake soil?
Fermented hardwood sawdust or leaf litter used as food and substrate for beetle larvae. Several sellers in the Goods section sell it ready-made.
Are exotic beetles legal in the US?
Many require USDA permits to import or sell. US-native species such as Dynastes tityus and Dynastes grantii are commonly available; check a seller's listing for the species and its status.
