Arachnids cover a lot of ground: tarantulas from the beginner-friendly Brachypelma and Grammostola to fast arboreal Poecilotheria, charismatic jumping spiders like Phidippus regius, scorpions, vinegaroons, whip spiders and true spiders. The sellers in this section are US-based keepers and breeders, so what you buy is captive-bred or long-term captive and ships within the country.
Tarantulas are usually sold as slings (spiderlings a few molts old), juveniles, or sexed sub-adults and adults. Slings are the cheapest way into a species but take years to mature; sexed females command the highest prices because they live far longer. Listings should state size (diagonal leg span), sex if known, and the molt date. Jumping spiders are sold by instar, and females again live longer.

What is a good first tarantula?
Slow, hardy terrestrial species such as Grammostola pulchripes, Brachypelma hamorii, Tliltocatl albopilosus and Aphonopelma chalcodes are the usual recommendations. Avoid fast arboreals and Old World species until you have experience.
What does sling, juvenile and sexed mean?
A sling is a young spiderling, a juvenile is a half-grown animal, and sexed means the seller has confirmed male or female (usually from a molt). Females live many years longer than males and cost more.
How are tarantulas and spiders shipped?
In a padded vial or deli cup inside an insulated box, by overnight service, with heat or cold packs as needed. Most sellers require you to be present for delivery to honor the live arrival guarantee.
