Brazilian White Knee Tarantula (Acanthoscurria geniculata) - 1.5-2.5" (Juvenile)
A nine-inch giant that strikes like a mousetrap and never hides Acanthoscurria geniculata, the Brazilian White Knee, is a big Amazonian terrestrial dressed in high-contrast black and white: an inky body, bold white-banded knees, and a thick coat of red-orange hairs over the abdomen. Adults stretch a full 7 to 9 inches across. Best part, unlike a lot of giants that wall themselves off in a burrow, this one sits right out in the open where you can watch it. The feeding response is the stuff of legend, a lightning strike every single time, which makes it one of the most rewarding display tarantulas going.
