Indian Ornamental Tarantula (Poecilotheria regalis) - 2-3" (Juvenile)

The tree-trunk camouflage that made Poecilotheria famous, on a spider that never touches the floor. Poecilotheria regalis, the Indian Ornamental, wears a fretwork of grey, cream and charcoal across its carapace and legs that reads as bark until it moves, and flashes bright yellow warning bands on the underside of the front legs when it does. It is an arboreal Old World species from central and southern India that lives pressed flat against vertical cork, and at 2 to 3 inches it is already showing the adult pattern. Grown females reach roughly 5 to 8 inches across.
