Deep ruby to red-brown, broad-clawed, and built low to the ground, it packs real desert presence into a compact 1/4 to 1/2 in frame. This is not the scorpion everyone else has, and it looks the part. Being a Diplocentrus means reduced venom and a calm streak: stings stay localized and mild, closer to a bee than a buthid, which makes it a standout display animal without the danger. But mild is not handleable. This is a look, not a touch, and it would much rather be wedged under a flat rock in an arid setup with one slightly humid corner nearby.
