Mexican Fire Leg Tarantula (Brachypelma boehmei) - 1.5-2" (Juvenile)
Legs the color of a struck match, and it never stops glowing Brachypelma boehmei, the Mexican Fire Leg, is one of the most striking spiders in the hobby: a dark, classically stocky Brachypelma body wearing bands of vivid flame-orange and red down every leg, straight off the Pacific scrub-slopes of Mexico. It looks caught mid-glow. At 1.5 to 2 inches it is a slow-grower and a marathon roommate, with females routinely pushing past 20 years. Calm and hardy on simple, dry care, boehmei is more hair-happy than its cousins, quick to kick urticating bristles when stressed, so treat it as a watch, do not touch display animal rather than a hold-me pet. It is a CITES-protected, captive-bred classic that rewards patience. Read the care guide before you set up its arid enclosure.
