Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis) - 4-7" (Subadult/Adult WC)

The biggest scorpion in North America, and it glows in the dark Hadrurus arizonensis, the Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion, is exactly what it sounds like: a five to six inch heavyweight in olive gold, with a dark back and a coat of fine sensory hairs it uses to feel prey moving across the sand. It comes out of the Mojave and Sonoran deserts, where it digs spiraling burrows deep enough to vanish into. Kill the lights, hit it with UV, and the whole animal lights up greenish white. Big, fuzzy, and built for the dunes. It will throw a defensive posture and wave that thick tail around, but the sting is only mild to moderate. The size does most of the intimidating. Care is refreshingly simple: a deep, dry, packable setup and very little fuss. The one way to get it wrong is too much humidity, so keep it arid and check the care guide for the exact desert build.
